Cosigners are expected to demonstrate strong financial stability. To qualify, they typically need:
- A credit score of at least 700
- Verifiable income of approximately 3.5 times the monthly rent
- A U.S.-based address and Social Security number (required for credit review and verification)
These standards ensure that cosigners are truly able to step in and provide financial support if needed during the tenancy.
What Other Options Do I Have if I Can’t Find a Cosigner?
If you do not have a qualified cosigner, or if your cosigner does not meet our approval guidelines, you may apply through TheGuarantors, an insurance program that can serve as an alternative. If approved, TheGuarantors will issue a bond to us in place of a cosigner. In return, you would pay TheGuarantors a one-time fee, typically 25%–75% of one month’s rent. Please note this is a credit-based decision made solely by TheGuarantors, not by our company. This option is especially useful if you do not have eligible family members in the U.S. or your cosigner does not have a Social Security number.
